About our facilities

There are many facilities available at BSSC to suit all tastes.

Entertainment

EntertainmentThe Club stages entertainment, free of charge, once or twice a month. This is usually a band, but can take other forms such as a disco, solo singer or race night. For details see the notice boards inside the Club.

Members' guests are welcome when entertainment is provided, but are asked to pay a £2 fee.

Regular Events

There are a number of weekly activities and events. These include:

Sports and Games

Sky ESPNThe Club has excellent facilities and houses football, cricket, bowls, darts, crib and snooker teams. All of these are open to new members. Members can also play pool and dominoes etc. Various slots are also available.  The Club provide Sky Sports and BT Sport too, often on the 'big screen' or on the smaller television near the gaming machines.

Pavilion hire

The club has a small cricket pavilion which is for hire and suitable for; private parties, kids birthdays, meetings, book and cookery clubs, first aid training, chess clubs, martial arts training, computer and photographic clubs, band rehearsal etc. The pavilion can hold around 30-40 people and has tables and chairs, kitchen and toilet facilities. Food and bar services are also available. Special rates are offered for members and regular users. For details and rates please contact the club steward on 01279 813 441.

Across the Bar - Drinks

As a private members' club, all drinks are owned collectively and 'supplied' by members, to members. This means that no-one takes a profit from the business. Therefore prices are very much lower than in pubs.

The range of drinks on offer is impressive, too. There is (subject to change) Adnams Bitter, Eagle IPA and a Two Guest Ales all on hand pump, with other products like Fosters, Carlsberg, Becks Vier, San Miguel, John Smiths, Guinness, Kingstone Press Cider, Westons Guest Cider and a wide range of bottled beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks.

Tea and coffee are always available.

Snacks

The Club sells a wide range of confectionery, crisps and savoury snacks.

Cooked Meals

A menu of excellent - and inexpensive - meals is available during the week, see our opening hours and food availability for details. Also see blackboard for Daily Specials

Light snacks such as filled rolls are also available at the same times and may be available at other times by request.

Miscellaneous - Postage Stamps, Telephone and Bin Liners

Books of 6 and 12 first and second class stamps are on sale at the bar. Rolls of biodegradable bin liners, suitable for our brown recycling bins, are on sale.

The Club welcomes members and their families.

The Family Room has been extended to provide more seating and a quieter area away from the jukebox and machines. A Nintendo Wii is now available to use. Games and controllers are available from behind the bar.

Access to the toilets has been improved, as children no longer have to walk through the bar area.

Please kindly observe the following...

Children under the age of 16 are not permitted in the bar area.

Children must remain in the Games Room except to walk to the toilets - smaller children must be supervised and accompanied.

The minimum age to use the dartboard is 16

The minimum age to play pool is 10.
